Some of the neighbouring houses are among the oldest and finest in Bendigo. Check out the two-storey house behind us. We used to be its backyard! The house bears the stately name of "Commersdale' and was built in 1898; the architect was William Beebe. Robert Saunders was the man who had Commersdale built. The Victorian Education Department acquired the house in 1948 and converted it into a hostel for female students. It has since returned to a family home, now owned by a leading Real Estate agent. What stories those walls could tell.

The Hibernian Hotel next door; reopened with a new look, new management, larger dining area, new menu and charge-back meals has the now famous Hot Rock steaks.
The Golden Square Hotel, one block from us on the same side of the road - within walking distance - also has great meals and will charge back to your room.
We have pamphlets on heaps of other eateries within easy reach of our motel.
Ask at reception for information for family events around Bendigo.
Another recently revamped attraction is the Chinese Gardens featuring a large Lotus flower.
While visiting , take a wander through the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Look for the booklet, which assists you to take your own tour. Go up the side steps, turn left and there is the booklet rack.
